Participation Program

The Participation Program is a self-help model that has offered a positive solution to hunger, lack of information, or self-esteem issues for those who are isolated due to a lack of adequate income. Members of the Participation Program contribute at least three volunteer hours per month, either within Project SHARE or within the community. In return, they receive many benefits that the program has to offer including life skill classes, group outings, connecting with others in the same situation and opportunities to participate in community events. Members attend bi-monthly meetings where scheduled speakers give information on topics such as money management, life skills sessions and volunteer or job opportunities that are available in the community. Craft classes and fun activities, like summer barbecues, are offered. New friendships are made and new skills are learned through this program that eases the transition from social assistance to employment.

Families can join the program by registering with Project SHARE. Registration is available on the first Monday of the month at 9:30am. From there, they will do a basic intake with our staff. Proof of income and identification for each registering member is needed during the registration intake. Currently, there are 75 families who are registered with the program.
